Police Blotter: Credit Card Theft and Concealed Weapons in Car

The latest crime reports from the Westport Police Department.

Here are the recent arrests as reported by the Westport Police Department:

  • Matthew Decredico of Norwalk, 23, was arrested Tuesday on charges of credit card theft, illegal use of a credit card, forgery and larceny. The charges stem from allegedly stealing a wallet from the YMCA in September, according to the police report. His bond was set at $5,000 and he is scheduled to appear in court Dec. 11.
  • Lee Valiante of Westbrook, 21, was arrested Wednesday on charges of having a weapon in his vehicle and operating an unregistered motor vehicle. Valiante was on the Sherwood Island Connector after a computer check revealed his registration had expired last June. During the investigation at the traffic stop, it was learned that Valiante had a large knife and a machete concealed in his vehicle, according to the police report. A $500 was set and he is scheduled to appear in court Dec. 14.
