Police Blotter: Man Allegedly Strangles Girlfriend, Kicks Dog

A Westport man allegedly strangled his girlfriend and kicked her 11-year-old dog on Monday evening. According to the report, Douglas Holzwarth, 59, of Coleytown Road, was involved in a domestic dispute with his girlfriend. He allegedly grabbed her by her throat and held her down on the floor. He also allegedly struck her in the face and then kicked her dog. He was charged with second-degree strangulation, third-degree assault, unlawful restraint and cruelty to animals. Holzwarth's bail was set at $10,000 and he was scheduled to appear in Norwalk Superior Court on Aug. 17.

Michael Pastore, 45, of St. Louis, M.O., was arrested on Aug. 14 at 12:39 a.m. on charges of driving under the influence, insurance coverage below minimums and failure to display lights. According to the report, Pastore was seen driving westbound on Charles Street with his headlights turned off. He was pulled over and police detected a strong odor of alcohol on his breath. He failed field sobriety tests and was arrested. Pastore's bail was set at $500 and he is scheduled to appear in Norwalk Superior Court on Aug. 24.

Steven Sites, 34, of Redding, was arrested on Aug. 15 at 9:56 p.m. on charges of driving under the influence and failure to drive in the proper lane. According to the report, a driver reported that a vehicle was moving erratically in the area of Post Road East and Compo Road North. Police located the vehicle soon after and saw that Sites was reportedly driving between two lanes. He was pulled over and police detected an odor of alcohol on his breath. He failed field sobriety tests and was arrested. Sites' bail was set at $500 and he is scheduled to appear in Norwalk Superior Court on Aug. 25.

Tore Nag, 56, of West Branch Road, was arrested on Aug. 17 at 12:53 a.m. on charges of driving under the influence and passing on the right. According to the report, Nag was involved in a traffic accident in the vicinity of 125 Kings Highway North. Officers determined that Nag was at fault for the accident for passing a car on the right side of the road. Officers observed that Nag was unsteady on his feet and there was an odor of alcohol on his breath. He failed field sobriety tests and was arrested. Nag's bail was set at $500 and he is scheduled to appear in Norwalk Superior Court on Aug. 25.

Gary Green, 23, of Norwalk, was arrested on Aug. 11 at 8:25 a.m. on a charge of failure to pay or plead. According to the report, he was pulled over on Wilton Road for not wearing his seat belt. A computer check revealed that he was wanted in Ridgefield for an unspecified incident. Green's bail was set at $1,000 and he is scheduled to appear in court on Aug. 23.
