Police Blotter: Risk of Injury to Child, Criminal Mischief, Drinking While Driving

The following police reports were obtained from the Westport Police Department from July 12-21.

Here are the latest arrests as reported by the Westport Police Department for the week of July 12-21.

Theft/Risk of Injury to Child

Aaron Eckert, 22, of Norwalk was arrested Friday on charges of conspiracy to commit larceny and risk of injury to child. According to a police report, in late May and early June, Eckert was involved with others in the sale of about $2,868.44 worth of stolen silverware and jewelry at Sam Sloat Coins. During the sale, a juvenile was also involved, which is the reason Eckert was charged with risk of injury to child. The charge is anything that may impair the morals of a minor and does not necessarily mean the juvenile participated in the commission of the crime, said Capt. Sam Arciola of the Westport Police Department. Eckert's bond has been set at $1,500 and he is scheduled to appear in court July 28. Arciola said the "others" referred to in the report are known to police and arrest warrants are pending.

Burglary

Milton Namcela, 22, of Norwalk was arrested Sunday on a burglary charge after police received a call from a Bluff Point Road resident that he and several houseguests had encountered an unknown male wandering around inside his house. The complainant escorted the man out of his house before calling the police. The man, later identified as Namcela, was located several hours later when a fisherman called police to report a suspicious person. Nothing was apparently missing from the house. Namcela was issued a $10,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court July 28.

Drinking While Driving

Anthony Jordan, 42, of Seymour was given a misdemeanor summons Sunday on a charge of drinking while operating a motor vehicle. According to a police report, Jordan was seen driving a car without a front license plate. The vehicle was unregistered and Jordan was issued an infraction for that charge. While the officer was speaking with Jordan he noticed a cold beer had spilled on the passenger side floor of the vehicle. Jordan was the only occupant of the car and told the officer he was drinking a beer on his way home from work, according to the report. He was issued a summons to appear in court July 28.
