Police Blotter: Three Arrested for DUI

Police reports from Aug. 2 to Aug. 11.

Michael Cannizzaro, 46, of Oyster Bay, N.Y., was arrested on Aug. 4 at 12:51 a.m. on charges of driving under the influence, failure to display lights and failure to drive right. According to the report, police saw Cannizzaro driving in the area of Riverside Avenue and Saugatuck Avenue without headlights. He reportedly swerved across the double yellow centerline. He was pulled over and police detected an odor of alcohol on his breath. Cannizzaro failed field sobriety tests and was arrested. His bail was set at $1,000 and he is scheduled to appear in Norwalk Superior Court on Aug. 17.

Kristen Freitag, 21, of Norwalk, was arrested on Aug. 5 at 10:17 p.m. on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol and following too closely. According to the report, Freitag drove into the rear of another vehicle at the intersection of Kings Highway North and Canal Street. The officer on the scene detected a strong odor of alcohol on her breath. She failed field sobriety tests and was arrested. Freitag's bail was set at $500 and she was scheduled to appear in Norwalk Superior Court on Aug. 13.

Antonio Rende, 24, of Stamford was arrested on Aug. 9 at 9 p.m. on charges of driving under the influence and failure to drive right. According to the report, Rende turned himself in at the Westport Police Department. He was wanted for a June 25 incident where he reportedly drove his vehicle off of Bridge Street. Rende was taken to Norwalk Hospital due to his injuries, and officers applied for a search warrant for his blood sample taken at the hospital. After police received toxicology results, a warrant for his arrest was issued. His bail was set at $500 and he was scheduled to appear in Norwalk Superior Court on Aug. 9.

A Westport man was arrested after letting his ten-year-old child sit on his lap and drive around Compo Beach. Tore Nag 56, of West Branch Road, was charged with risk of injury to a child. According to police, Nag and his child were not wearing seatbelts. Bail was set at $500 and he was scheduled to appear in Norwalk Superior Court on Aug. 13.

A traffic stop led several to motor vehicle charges and a warrant arrest of a Bridgeport man on Aug. 3 at 5 p.m. According to the report, Alston was pulled over for having an expired registration. A computer check revealed that his vehicle was unregistered, uninsured and that the license was suspended. It was also found out that he was wanted by state police for motor vehicle violations in 2007. Alston was charged with second-degree failure to appear, operating an unregistered vehicle, operating under suspension, failure to return license and insurance coverage below minimum requirements. His bail was set at $3,000 and he was scheduled to appear in Bridgeport Superior Court on Aug. 13.

Alica Marzulli, 48, of Wakenor Road, was arrested on Aug. 4 at 9:34 p.m. on a charge of violation of probation. She was arrested at her home on a warrant for the unspecified violation. Marzulli's bail was set at $15,000 and she is scheduled to appear in Norwalk Superior Court on Aug. 14.

Paul Bacher, 19, of Weston was arrested on Aug. 6 at 11:30 a.m. on a charge of obstructing free passage. According to the report, Bacher was involved in a dispute and allegedly pushed the victim into a store on Main Street. He released on a promise to appear in Norwalk Superior Court on Aug. 9.
