Police Blotter: Westport Inn Guest Refuses to Pay

Police reports from Dec. 10-12.

The following arrest information was provided by the Westport Police Department. It does not indicate convictions.

A guest af the Westport Inn reportedly outstayed his welcome on Dec. 11. According to police, Robert Savino, 37, of Hogan Trail, had his credit card for the room denied. He was told by management to come to office to make proper arrangements to pay for the room he was staying in, but he allegedly never did. He did not respond to police when they arrived at the door and they had to enter through the adjacent room. Savino was charged with sixth-degree larceny and first-degree criminal trespass. His bail was set at $5,000 and he is scheduled to appear in Norwalk Superior Court on Dec. 21. 

Lonnie Spaulding, 49, of Bridgeport, was arrested for violation of probation on Dec. 10 after police ran a computer check on her vehicle. According to the report, Spaulding was wanted for a 2009 breach of peace arrest in Stamford. Spaulding's bail was set at $20,000 and he is scheduled to appear in Bridgeport Superior Court on Dec. 20.

An ongoing dispute between neighbors reportedly turned into a shoving match on Dec. 9. According to the police, Steven Laitman, 70, of Post Road E., forcibly grabbed a neighbor by the arm during an argument. He was charged with disorderly conduct and released on a promise to appear in Norwalk Superior Court on Dec. 21.

Troy Cichowicz, 45, of Norwalk, was arrested on Dec. 10 at 9:15 a.m. on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol, disobeying the signal of an officer and several motor vehicle violations. According to the report, officers were dispatched to Sylvan Road South on a report of a suspicious white van. The van, driven by Cichowicz, was seen speeding and was pulled over on Brookfield Street. Officers observed several empty beer cans strewn around the van and a partial 18 pack of beer. Cichowicz was reportedly evasive in his answers to officers. He failed field sobriety tests and was arrested. His bail was set at $1,000 and he is scheduled to appear in Norwalk Superior Court on Dec. 21.

John Jones, 57, of Bridgeport was arrested on Dec. 11 at 3 p.m. on a charge of fifth-degree larceny. According to the report, Jones was picked up on a warrant in Bridgeport. He was wanted for an allegedly shoplifting incident in July. Jones' bail was set at $5,000 and he is scheduled to appear in Norwalk Superior Court on Dec. 21.

Daniel Jerome, 47, of Wilton Road and his son (a minor who was not indentified) were arrested on Dec. 11 on charges of disorderly conduct. According to the report, they were involved in a domestic dispute. Both were released on a promise to appear in Norwalk Superior Court on Dec. 13.

A pair of Stamford women were arrested on Dec. 12 for allegedly stealing vitamin supplements from Schulhoff Animal Hospital. According to the report, Debra and Susan Tandet, both 49, were caught on surveillance video. They were arrested by the Orange Police Department and transferred to Westport. They were both charged with sixth-degree larceny and bail was set at $5,000 each. They are scheduled to appear in Norwalk Superior Court on Dec. 22.
