Police Conduct Liquor Detail; Seven Stores Sold Alcohol to Minors

Detail leads to alcohol and drug related arrests.

 

Detectives from the Westport Poilce Department checked twelve liquor stores and supermarkets Thursday to ensure they complied with laws requiring them to check for proper identification before selling alcohol. 

Of the 12 stores that were checked, seven failed to comply and sold alcohol to a minor without checking for proper identification.

Detectives also checked eight restaurants to ensure they were checking for identification before selling alcohol to patrons.  All eight eateries were in compliance, however one person was arrested when it was found that a fake drivers license was used to enter the premises.

During the liquor detail, police arrested seven people on charges of selling alcohol to a minor, others were arrested on charges of narcotics violations, forgery and possession of alcohol by a minor.

Detail enforcements will continue throughout the year at random periods to ensure better compliance, according to police. 

Here's a list of the arrests:

Robbia Williams, 27, was arrested on a charge of selling alcohol to a minor at Stop & Shop Supermarket.

James Shine, 56, was arrested on a charge of selling alcohol to a minor at the Westfair Spirit Shop.

Kevin Majoros, 22, was arrested on a charge of selling alcohol to a minor at Castle Wine & Spirit.

Samuel Sagnella was arrested on a charge of selling alcohol to a minor at Greens Farms Spirit.

Clayton Curtiss, 45, was arrested on a charge of selling alcohol to a minor at  Dan’s Liquor.

Amanda Gerpe, 21, was arrested on a charge of selling alcohol to a minor at  Trader Joe’s.

Pierre Gerard, 52, was arrested on a charge of selling alcohol to a minor at Whole Foods.

Kate Burigo, 20, was arrested on charges of forgery, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of alcohol by a minor.

William Kellogg, 22, was arrested on charges of marijuana possession and possession of drug paraphernalia, which was unrelated to the detail.
