Police Cruiser 'T-boned' in Morning Accident, No Injuries Reported
Accident occurred at the intersection of Post Road East and Myrtle Avenue.
No one was reported injured in a two-car motor vehicle accident that occurred about 9:38 a.m. in which a motorist struck a police cruiser.
According to a report from Westport Police, the accident occurred at the intersection of Post Road East and Myrtle Avenue. Police said a preliminary investigation into the accident shows that the officer’s actions while driving the police cruiser were a major contributor to the accident.
Police said the operator of the other vehicle was examined at the scene by Westport EMS and refused transport to the hospital. The officer also was not injured. Both vehicles sustained heavy damage during the accident and needed to be towed from the scene.

The accident remains under investigation by the Westport Police Department.
According to a report on WestportNow.com, the officer was following a westbound car when his police cruiser collided with a car emerging from Myrtle Avenue crossing to Imperial Avenue. This was reportedly the second accident at the intersection involving a police car in less than three months.
