The department will also join hundreds of other agencies in a statewide "Click it or Ticket" campaign May 24-June 6.

The Westport Police Department announced today it has received $14,250 from the Department of Transportation for the "2010 Comprehensive DUI Enforcement Program."

The funding will go toward hiring additional officers who will be specifically detailed to target offenders driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs during the summer months, said Capt. Sam Arciola of the Westport Police Department.

In addition to the DUI grant funding, the police department will be joining state and local police agencies in the "High Visibility Safety Belt/Child Safety Seat Enforcement Campaign: Click it or Ticket." The campaign, slated to begin May 24 and through June 6, promotes safe travel for the upcoming Memorial Day weekend.
