Police: Men Had Over 100 Packs of Heroin in Westport

Westport police dog found narcotics during routine traffic stop.

Two New Jersey men are facing several drug charges following a routine traffic stop in Westport Monday.

Cole Dunn Hamer, 28, of North Plainfield, NJ, and Frank Veglatte Jr., 29, of North Plainfield, NJ, were charged with possession with intent to sell narcotics, conspiracy with intent to sell narcotics, possession of narcotics and possession of drug paraphernalia on Oct. 28 at approximately 5:07 p.m.

According to police, the men where pulled over for failing to stop at a stop sign on the Sherwood Island Connector near Greens Farms Road. Following the stop, a Westport Police Service Dog discovered a large amount of narcotics, including over 100 packs of heroin and a sizeable amount of cash, according to police

Hamer and Veglatte were held on $5,000 bonds and were scheduled to appear in Norwalk Superior Court on Oct. 29.
