Police Track Down, Arrest Man with Stolen Car, Marijuana in Westport

Westport police officers located the car in the rear parking lot at McDonald's on Post Road East and took the suspect into custody when he approached the car.

 

A police investigation turned up a stolen car and bag or marijuana after the Orlando Police Department in Florida requested assistance from the Westport Police Department.

The Orlando Police Department tracked a stolen rental car to the McDonald’s on Post Road East using a GPS tracking unit, police said.

According to the Orlando Police Department, 31-year-old Devin Flores, of Springfield, Massachusetts, had rented a 2010 Hyundai Accent from Value Rental Car and failed to return it.  Westport police officers located the car in the rear parking lot at McDonald’s and took Flores into custody when he approached the car.

Flores then gave officers consent to search the vehicle, which revealed a black briefcase that contained a small bag with less than a gram of marijuana inside, according to the police report.

Flores was charged with second-degree larceny and possession of less than a half ounce of marijuana. He was released after posting a $5,000 bond and is due in Norwalk Superior Court on Jan. 31.
