Sleepy Drunk Driver Unable To Stand Gets DUI in Westport
The officer was unable to conduct a field sobriety test on the driver because she was unable to stand due to her intoxicated condition, police said.
When an officer on patrol on noticed a vehicle pulled halfway off the right side of the road on Julian Brodie Drive at Longshore Club Park, he found a woman slouched over in the driver's seat with her eyes closed, police said.
After several attempts to wake the driver during the August 20 incident, she woke up and was asked several times to unlock her door. When she was asked what she had to drink, she replied, “vodka,” police said.

The officer was unable to conduct a field sobriety test on the driver because she was unable to stand due to her intoxicated condition, police said. Instead, a warrant was applied for and was granted.
Westport police charged 49-year-old Patricia McMahon, of 11 Danbury Avenue, Westport, with driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol after she turned herself in to the Westport Police Department Wednesday morning on an active warrant, police said.

McMahon was released after posting a $5,000 bond. She is due in Norwalk Superior Court October 12.
