State Police Nab Two For Speeding 100-plus MPH

State police arrested two men for reckless driving last Wednesday after they were clocked going more than 100 mph in separate incidents in Westport and Norwalk.

reportedly arrested two drivers last Wednesday night for speeding over 100 miles per hour on I-95 in and Route 7 in Norwalk.

According to a report in the CT Post, a state trooper conducting radar at around midnight on Route 7 clocked a vehicle driven by James O'Byrne, 25, traveling northbound at 135 miles per hour. O'Byrne reportedly crashed his vehicle at the intersection of Route 7 and Grist Mill Road. Police reportedly found an illegal knife on his person following the crash. O'Byrne was charged with reckless driving and carrying a dangerous weapon, according to the report.

About three hours later state police arrested Norberto Torres, 25, of Bridgeport, who was clocked traveling at 116 mph on Interstate 95 northbound near Exit 18 in Westport. He was also charged with reckless driving, according to the CT Post report.
