Swerving Driver Arrested for DUI in Westport

Police took the man into custody after he failed a field sobriety test.

 

A Westport police officer witnessed the suspect cross over the double yellow lines several times while traveling behind him on Compo Road South, police said.

Once stopped, the officer could smell alcohol on the driver's breath, police said. He failed the field sobriety tests and was taken into custody just before 1 a.m. Wednesday. The driver submitted to a breath test with the following results:  0.143 and 0.119, according to police

Westport police charged 43-year-old Nicholas Blain, of Norwalk, with operating under the influence of drugs or alcohol and failure to drive in proper lane, police said.

Blain posted a $500 cash bond and was released. He is due in court September 20.
