Police: TD Bank Robber Admits to Crime to Pay Rent

The suspect is now in police custody.

The Westport Police Department has identified the suspect in the TD Bank robbery that occurred on Friday as Felix Lopez, a 40-year-old Norwalk resident.

He is now in police custody and told detectives that the loss of his house and an inability to pay bills was the reason he decide to rob the bank, according to a news release. He stole $569 from the bank, which he used to pay his rent, according to the release.

Police received information about Lopez through an anonymous telephone tip after the tipster saw the suspect's photo on an evening newscast. An investigation determined that Lopez was also wanted on two unrelated re-arrest warrants by the Norwalk and Wilton Police Departments.
