Three-Car Accident with U-Haul on I-95

All vehicle occupants refused medical transport to Norwalk Hospital.

The Westport Fire Department responded to a multi-vehicle accident today on Interstate 95 northbound between exits 18 and 19.

Around 3:30 p.m., arriving firefighters found a three-car accident with a towed U Haul on its side in the middle lane. Occupants of the vehicles had already exited the cars when firefighters arrived, according to Assistant Chief Robert Kepchar of the Westport Fire Department.

Fire trucks blocked the left and center lanes to protect the scene. Firefighters evaluated all occupants for injuries. Westport EMS arrived on scene and all occupants refused transport to Norwalk Hospital. There was debris and spilled fluids from the three vehicles on the roadway, which firefighters cleaned up.

State police limited traffic to the right lane for about 30 minutes until the center lane could be cleared. All vehicles were towed from the scene. CT State Police investigated the cause of the incident. The last fire department unit left the scene at 4:21 p.m.
