Three Injured in Crash on I-95 Embankment

The accident occurred at about 4:30 a.m.

Westport Firefighters responded to a single car accident, injuring three occupants on I 95 northbound, between exits 17 and 18.

A Ford Explorer left the highway and traveled down the embankment before coming to rest against a tree, according to a news release from .  Three of the four occupants were ‘packaged’ by firefighters and transported to Norwalk Hospital by Westport and Norwalk EMS for further treatment.

Firefighters had to set up a rope system in order to remove one of the patients up the embankment, due to the extent of their injuries, which appeared to all be minor. The accident is under investigation by the Connecticut State Police. The last Westport Fire unit left the scene at about 6 a.m.
