Three New York Men Arrested Using Counterfeit Credit Cards in Westport

Westport police reports.

The received a phone call from reporting that a male had purchased liquor with a fraudulent credit card at about 1 p.m. Tuesday, police said. The caller indicated the vehicle used in the incident had been parked around the building and occupied by other people. A description of the people involved, the vehicle and its license plate was given out to patrol vehicles.

Shortly after the incident, Officer Dave Librandi observed the vehicle and its occupants outside of on Post Road East, police said. Patrol units stopped the vehicle, with New Jersey plates, after exiting the parking lot.

In the course of the investigation it was learned that in addition to the fraudulent purchase of merchandise with a credit card at Castle Wine and Spirits, that the suspects had purchased merchandise at and had attempted a purchase at Dan’s Liquors, police said. Recovered at the scene were 8 fraudulent credit cards and proceeds from the illegal purchases.

Westport police charged John Bunche, 30, of 20 Richmond Plaza 9E, Bronx, NY, Deon Crenshaw, 34, of Jamaica New York, and Danny Daniels, 34, of Springfield Gardens, New York with illegal use of a credit card, fifth-degree larceny and conspiracy to commit credit card fraud. All three suspects are due in Norwalk Superior Court April 13.

In addition to the criminal charges both Bunche and Daniels were issued infractions for Illegal possession of marijuana after small bags of marijuana were found in their possession, police said.
