Three Youths Arrested in Connection to Westport Car Break-ins

The juveniles are detained early Monday.

Three juveniles were arrested in Westport early Monday in connection with multiple motor vehicle break-ins in town, police said.

Police responded to a report of car break-ins on Imperial Avenue at approximately 3:50 a.m. Monday. Residents told police they found their car doors left open and the vehicles' interior dome lights left on. Arriving officers noticed evidence that suggested the break-ins were recent.

Officers set up a perimeter around the neighborhood and found three juveniles in the area of Compo Road South and Bridge Street. The youths ran from officers, but police found one on Underhill Parkway, and the other two on the platform of the Saugatuck Train Station.

Police reportedly found stolen goods on the juveniles, linking them to car break-ins reported on Compo Road South, Imperial Avenue, and Strathmore Lane.

The juveniles were taken into custody. No other information was available at the time of this report.
