Two-Car Accident in Westport Sends One To Hospital Following Extrication

Upon arrival, Rescue company personnel stabilized the vehicle and completed the vehicle extrication in about six minutes from the time that they had arrived on scene.

 

A two-car accident on Easton Road in Westport resulted in one person being sent to a local hospital with injuries after being trapped in a vehicle.

While returning from another alarm at about 6 p.m. Saturday, Westport Fire Department Engine Company 6 came upon a two-car motor vehicle accident that had just occurred at the intersection of Easton Road and Warnock Drive, according to Westport Fire Department Assistant Chief John Plofkin, Jr.

Firefighters surveyed the damage and asked Westport Fire dispatch to upgrade the call to a vehicle entrapment with extrication required. An additional Engine, Rescue company and shift commander responded from fire headquarters, Plofkin said.

The occupant of the vehicle who was extricated was transported by Westport EMS to a local hospital.  The occupant of the second vehicle refused medical treatment and was released by EMS personnel, according to Plofkin. 

Westport Police Department was on scene and closed Easton Road for the duration of the incident to provide safety to working emergency personnel. There were no other civilian or emergency personnel related injuries.  The last fire unit cleared the scene at about 7:15 p.m, according to Plofkin.
