Two Car Accident on Merritt Parkway Sends Driver to Norwalk Hospital

Two vehicle accident occurred shortly after 11 a.m. Monday

A two-car motor vehicle accident on the Merritt Parkway northbound between Exits 42 and 44 on Monday resulted in one of the drivers being transported to Norwalk Hospital with minor injuries, according to a report from the Westport Fire Department.

Westport firefighters and EMS workers reportedly arrived on the scene at about 11:12 a.m. After evaluating the condition of the occupants of the two vehicles it was decided that one of the drivers required transport to the hospital, the report states.

According to the report, traffic was restricted to one lane for about 45 minutes. Both vehicles had to be towed from the scene. State Police reopened the road at 11:59 a.m. The cause of the accident is under investigation by State Police.
