Two DUIs, One Warrant Arrest This Past Weekend

Westport Police Reports July 28-August 1

The following arrest information was provided by the Westport Police Department. It does not indicate convictions.

Jan Sofranko, 48, of Norwalk was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol on July 29. According to police an officer on patrol saw Sofranko’s car cross the double yellow line into the opposite lane while traveling west on Post Road East in the area of Fresh Market. Police said after stopping the vehicle near Compo Road, the officer could smell an odor of alcoholic beverage coming from Sofranko’s breath. Police said Sofranko was very unsteady on his feet and swayed from side to side. He reportedly failed field sobriety tests. Sofranko was also charged with failure to drive in proper lane. He posted bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Aug. 11.

Erika Horn, 38, of Hillspoint Road, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol on July 30. Police said Horn was involved in a one car motor vehicle accident in the area of Greens Farms Rd and Clapboard Hill wherein the vehicle she was operating struck a CL&P light pole on the right shoulder of Greens Farms Road. Police said Horn was the sole occupant and was not injured. Police said officers responding to the scene could smell an odor of alcoholic beverage on Horn’s breath. She reportedly failed the field sobriety tests. Horn was also charged with failure to drive right. She posted bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Aug. 11.

Laura Fray, 37, of Southport was arrested via warrant and charged with third degree forgery and conspiracy to commit sixth degree larceny on July 30. Police said Fray was picked up from police headquarters in Southington, where she was being held on an active warrant from out of Westport. Police said the warrant stems from an incident that occurred in May in which Fray allegedly attempted to cash a forged check in the amount of $200.00 at Chase Bank. In addition there were two other warrants from Trumbull police for Fray for failure to appear that were served by Westport Police. Fray was reportedly held on bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Aug. 12.
