Two Men Arrested for Trying to Steal Cooking Oil from Burger Joint

A retired police officer witnessed Christopher Hills and Kenneth Martin attempting to steal oil from Five Guys Burgers and Fries.

 

arrested two men on Friday after they were caught trying to steal cooking oil from Five Guys Burgers and Fries on Post Road East.

According to a report released by the department, after eating at the restaurant, a retired police officer was walking back to his car, which was parked in the rear lot and observed a white van with New York license plates with its rear doors open. The officer saw two men — Christopher Hills and Kenneth Martin — standing near a cooking oil tank and became suspicious.

The report said that the officer followed the two men, contacted the department and remained on the phone until dispatch arrived. When officers stopped the van, they found several large tanks filled with used cooking oil, as well as a
gasoline-powered pumping device and a long, corrugated suction hose.

Martin and Hills, both residents of New York, were arrested and charged with sixth-degree larceny and were both released on a $2,500 bond, according to Westport-News
