Two Trumbull Residents Arrested for Embezzling from Westport Company

The suspects are facing first-degree larceny charges, according to police.

 

Two Trumbull residents were arrested on Monday for embezzling $75,000 from their former Westport-based employer, according to a statement released by Westport Police Captain Vincent J. Penna.

Dominique Phraviaxy, 39, and Xayonh Phaosoung, age 38, both of 56 Craig Lane, were charged after the company contacted the department on Jan. 16 and—with the assistance of CT Financial Crimes Task Force—investigated the claims and executed multiple search warrants, Penna said.

The department declined to comment Monday on how the suspects allegedly took the money or how the company found out about the missing funds. "At this time we are still investigating the case," Penna wrote in a an email to Patch.

Phraviaxy is charged with first-degree larceny, conspiracy to commit first-degree larceny, third-degree larceny, conspiracy to commit third-degree larceny, eight counts of third-degree forgery, credit card theft, illegal use of a credit card and conspiracy to commit illegal use of a credit card. Her bond is set at $75,000 and is scheduled to appear in court on April 3.

Phaosoung is charged with conspiracy to commit first-degree larceny and conspiracy to commit illegal use of a credit card. His bond is set at $50,000 and is also scheduled to appear in court on April 3.
