Westport PD: Wanted Shoplifter Found

Police located an alleged shoplifter after initiating a traffic stop just after 3 p.m. Monday.

 

When stopped a driver for having an expired registration plate, the officer learned she was wanted for evading multiple shoplifting offences. 

The officer found that there was a failure to appear warrant for larceny (shoplifting) and for possession of a shoplifting instrument (foil-lined bag). Both alleged incidents occurred in Stamford, according to police.

Westport police charged Yesenia Torres, of 599 Wood Avenue, with second-degree failure to appear. She was released on a promise to appear for the motor vehicle charges and she was later released on a $500 bond for the failure to appear charge. She is due in Stamford Superior Court August 3.
