Westport Fire Department Assists Fairfield with Car Fire

The extent of injuries is unknown.

 

The Westport Fire Department responded to a report of a motor vehicle accident and car fire on the Merritt Parkway north bound between exit 42 and 44 Thursday night.

Coleytown Engine Company 6, Headquarters Engine Company 2, Rescue Company 3, and the Shift Command Car responded to the scene with Fairfield Fire Rescue units to find a two-car accident with one car's engine compartment ablaze.  Firefighters immediately stretched a hose line across the median to attack the fire and treat the injured.

The extent of injuries was not known at this time as the injured were being treated by AMR ambulance on scene from Fairfield.  All Westport Fire Department units cleared the scene at 10:30 p.m.
