Westport Man Charged with Shaking Cable Installer's Ladder, Throwing Rock

Westport police arrested a 54-year-old town man Aug. 5 and charged him with breach of peace after the man allegedly shook a Cablevision installer’s ladder and threw a rock at the technician.

According to police, the Cablevision worker was unable to contact Rhett, whose Imperial Avenue property included a utility pole that the technician needed to climb in order to install cable TV on a nearby home.

“So he put the extension ladder against the utility pole and climbed it to access the cable equipment,” police said in a press release. “A short [time] later, a male exited the house and demanded that he get off his property and according to the cable installer, shook the ladder that he was on and threw a rock at his back and then left.”

According to police, Rhett returned a short time later and said that he was just trying to get the installers attention to move his truck because he thought he couldn’t get out of his driveway.

He was released after promising to appear Aug. 15 in state Superior Court in Norwalk.

Police arrested an 18-year-old Westport man Aug. 4 on an underage alcohol charge after a complaint of a disturbance at the teen’s Blackberry Lane home led to the discovery of a party where minors were drinking.

Police said that a number of vehicles were leaving the area of Alec Lundberg’s home when they arrived.

“[Police] were met in the driveway by Lundberg who stated that he was having a party and several uninvited guess had arrived bringing ‘more’ alcohol to the party,” police said in a press release. “He [Lundberg] later admitted to supplying alcohol. The outside area around the house was littered with beer cans and red plastic cups. More emptied beer cans and bottles were located in several rooms inside the house.”

Lundberg was released after promising to appear Aug. 15 in state Superior Court in Norwalk.

Police arrested a 69-year-old Norwalk man before dawn on Aug. 6 and charged him with driving under the influence after finding him in his vehicle, which was running but stopped on the Post Road near Sylvan Road.

According to police, Frederick Macarthur failed field sobriety tests after he was removed from the vehicle.

He was released on $500 bond and scheduled to appear Aug. 15 in state Superior Court in Norwalk.

A 22-year-old Bridgeport man was arrested at 8:39 p.m. Aug. 5 and charged with reckless driving and operating a motor vehicle without a license.

According to police, Rigoberto Morales nearly forced a sedan off of the Post Road with his pickup truck after several times preventing that vehicle from changing lanes.

He was released on $500 bond and scheduled to appear Aug. 15 in state Superior Court in Norwalk.

Police arrested a 34-year-old Fairfield man by warrant on Aug. 4 and charged him with second-degree failure to appear.

According to police, Pietro Fiore turned himself in on an active warrant stemming from motor vehicle violations. He was released on $1,000 bond and scheduled to appear Aug. 15 in state Superior Court in Stamford.
