Westport Man Spits at Police, Threatens Family

The man was uncooperative and spat at police after he was located behind a convenience store dumpster.

 

Westport police were sent on Nov. 16 to check on 22-year-old Tyler Connelly Healy at his 35 Spicer Road home after he allegedly made threatening remarks to family members, police said.

Healy subsequently was located behind a dumpster at Cumberland Farms. When police officers attempted to talk to Healy, he became combative and spat at an officer, police said.

After Healy was taken into custody he became confrontational and spat at officers again, according to the arrest report. He was transported to Bridgeport Hospital and was not charged at the time.

Healy turned himself in to the Westport Police Department on an active arrest warrant Friday morning. He was charged with two counts of assaulting a public safety officer, a class 'C' felony. In addition, Healy was charged with two counts of threatening, interfering with an officer – simple assault, and breach of peace.

Healy was unable to post a $10,000 cash-only bond and was transported to Norwalk Superior Court Friday morning for arraignment. Healy is due back in court Wednesday at 10 a.m., according to the State of Connecticut Juduical Branch website
