Westport PD: Man Assaults Victim in Commuter Lot

An officer spotted a man assaulting a victim nearby the Saugatuck Train Station.

 

While on routine patrol Wednesday, a Westport police officer pulled into the commuter lot on Charles Street and found a man striking another individual in the face, police said.

The suspect was straddled over the victim, who was laying on the ground, according to police.

Both the victim and suspect, who reportedly knew each other, had been out together. The suspect asked the victim to get out of his vehicle and when the victim initially refused to do, the suspect physically removed him, police said.

Westport police charged Daniel Kang, 30, of Norwalk, with third-degree assault. He was released from custody after posting a $500 bond. He is due in Norwalk Superior Court November 26.
