Westport PD Promotes Lieutenant & Detective

The Westport Police Department promoted Sergeant Eric Woods to the rank of Lieutenant and Detective Jillian Cabana to the rank of Sergeant during a ceremony that took place at the Westport Police Department on Friday.

Sergeant Woods joined the Westport Police Department in August of 2001 and was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in September 2009.  He graduated form the University of South Carolina in 1999 with Bachelors of Science in Criminal Justice.

After graduating form the University of South Carolina, he served as a Police Officer for the Wilmington North Carolina Police Department from July 1999 to February 2001.

Sergeant Woods is a member of the Westport Police Department Honor Guard, Joint Police and Fire Dive Team.  He is Patrol Rifle and TASER qualified.  He is a past president of Westport Police Union, Local 2080 

He currently lives in Milford, CT with his wife Sarah and two young children, Connor and Ryan.

Detective Cabana joined the Westport Police Department in May of 2006 and was promoted to the rank of Detective in August 2009.  She graduated from the University of New Haven in 2006 with a Bachelor’s of Science in Criminal Justice-Investigative Services.

Detective Cabana is a graduate of the Fairfield County Detective’s School, Advanced Crime Scene Processing, Advanced Interview and Interrogation and Electronic Surveillance Courses.

Her awards include the Westport Police Department Honorable Service Award, Meritorious Police Award and Unit Citation Award.

She is a former Police Benevolent Associations (PBA) Secretary and the current Police Union Treasurer.

Detective Cabana lives with her husband Tad in Fairfield, CT and expecting the birth of their first child in March.
