Westport Police Arrest Shelton Woman For DUI With .313 BAC

Westport Police Reports: Sept. 22-26.

Allan Cockrane, 44, of 3 Country Road, Westport, was charged Sept. 24 with DUI, failure to carry license and failure to drive right. Cockrane was observed traveling northbound on Riverside Avenue near the intersection of Sylvan Road South. The vehicle he was operating was weaving in and out of the northbound lane and into the southbound lane, crossing the yellow lines several times. Once stopped, the officer noticed a distinct and pronounced odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath. Cockrane was asked to perform the field sobriety tests, which he failed. He was placed under arrest and taken into custody. He submitted to a breath test with the following results: .138 and .128. He was released after posting a $500 bond for court Oct. 3.

Jessica Denes, 29, of 7 Brunswick Road, Shelton, was charged Sept. 25 with DUI. There were reports that a red Honda CRV traveling southbound on the Merritt Parkway was weaving in and out of traffic and cut off several vehicles. The red Honda CRV got off exit 42 southbound in Westport and witnesses continued to follow it until it parked in the rear lot of 12 Avery Place. The operator, later identified as Denes, appeared confused and incoherent. Officers detected an odor of alcohol emanating from the vehicle. Denes was asked to perform the field sobriety tests, which she failed. She was placed under arrest and taken into custody. She submitted to a breath test with the following results: .313 and .287. She was later released after posting $500 bond for court Oct. 3.
