Westport Police Arrest Shoplifters With More Than $1,000 in Stolen Goods

Westport police reports: Feb. 9-13.

Beverley Stewart, 22, of Bridgeport, was charged with sixth-degree larceny, possession of a shoplifting device, conspiracy to commit sixth-degree shoplifting and released on a $500 bond. Leenice Pierce, 22, of Straftford, was charged with two counts of conspiracy to commit sixth-degree larceny and released on a $5,000 bond. Deanisha Pierce, 20 of Stratford, was charged with fourth-degree shoplifting, possession of a shoplifting device, conspiracy to commit sixth-degree larceny, and released on a $15,000 bond.

officers responded on Feb. 10 to the on Main Street on a report that three women had just been in the store and one of them stole a white cellular phone case.  A description was given and the females were located in the on Main Street. Inside Stewart’s purse, an officer located a boot and found several pairs of pliers and clippers that are commonly used as shoplifting tools.   Inside Deanisha’s purse, an officer located a white cellular phone case that matched the one taken at Shoe-Inn. All three parties were taken into custody.  During the course of the investigation, the vehicle they had been in was searched and there was a large amount of clothes, some accessories, and foil line bags located in the trunk. The clothing still had security sensors and price tags still attached and were from various clothing chain stores. The value of the cellular phone case taken at Shoe-Inn was $30.  The value of the boot taken at ODDZ was $70.  The value of the clothing and accessories recovered from the trunk of the vehicle was $1,029.60 .  All three suspects are due in court Feb. 21.

Elvis Pabon, 22 of Bridgeport, was charged Feb. 10 with second-degree failure to appear. Pabon was stopped on Post Road East for a motor vehicle equipment violation (illegal window tinting) and police found that he had a warrant for failure to appear in court for motor vehicle violations from Fairfield Police Department. He was taken into custody and later released after he posted bond.

Jelani Lemon, 20 of Bridgeport, was charged Feb. 12 with second-degree failure to appear. Lemon was stopped for motor vehicle violations and it police found that he had a warrant for failure to appear in court. The warrant was stems from an original arrest by Fairfield Police Department for motor vehicle violations.  Lemon was charged with multiple motor vehicle charges from this department and was later released after posting bond for them and for the warrant.
