An officer observed Tighe’s vehicle go through a red light at the intersection of Myrtle Avenue and Main Street.  He then observed the vehicle travel over the double yellow lines as it made a left turn on King’s Highway North at the intersection with Canal Street. The vehicle then made another wide turn onto Wilton Road and continued to drive with the two driver’s side wheels completely over the double yellow lines. Once stopped, police detected a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on Tighe's breath. She failed the field sobriety tests and was taken into custody. She refused to take the breath test. Hunter was observed traveling westbound on Charles Street near the intersection of Saugatuck Avenue with the drivers’ side headlight out. Once stopped, the officer noticed a distinct and pronounced odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from inside the vehicle. While on patrol, an officer observed the accused’s vehicle pulled to the side shoulder area of Wilton Road near the Merritt Parkway exit 41 southbound on-ramp. The vehicle’s headlights were on and the vehicle’s engine was running. The windows were foggy and the accused was in the driver’s seat hunched over appearing to be sleeping. When the officer knocked on the window, the accused woke up and appeared to be incoherent of where he was, and began to press the gas pedal of the parked vehicle causing the engine to rev for several seconds before realizing that he was doing so. He was unable to roll the window down and the officer had him open the car door. As he did, the officer immediately noticed a large filet style cutlery knife between the seat and the pillar of the vehicle. Scheps stated he uses it for protection. While speaking with the accused, there was a distinct and pronounced odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from his breath.  His eyes were red and glassy and his speech was slurred and slow. He failed to perform the field sobriety tests and was taken into custody. He submitted to a breath test with the following results: .154 and .145.
