Westport, State Police Engage in Early Morning Pursuit
The driver of a BMW 740i fled at a high rate of speed after Westport police attempted to stop the vehicle for running a red light on Post Road East at Bulkley Avenue.
Officers pursued the gray sedan onto Interstate 95 heading southbound and based on the high speeds and seriousness of the crime, the pursuit was terminated by a supervisor, police say.
A regional broadcast was made for the suspect vehicle and state police were able to safely stop the vehicle at Exit 9 in Stamford.
Police charged Marlon Stewart, who turns 37 years old today, of 83 Pearl Harbour Place, Bridgeport, with engaging police in pursuit, reckless driving, operating an unregistered motor vehicle and a stop light violation. He was held at Westport Police Department on a $2,500.00 bond.
