Westport Woman Arrested For Larceny, Forgery, Possession

Westport police reports for July 25-27

The following arrest information was provided by the Westport Police Department. It does not indicate convictions.

Julie Ruza, 24, of Jennings Court was arrested via warrant and charged with third degree larceny and third degree forgery on July 26. In addition she was charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. Police said an officer on patrol, who knew there was a warrant for Ruza’s arrest, stopped her vehicle on Bayberry Lane. Police said the warrant stems from an incident back in May where checks were stolen and fraudulently cashed. Police said through bank surveillance photos, Ruza was identified with another party, who was also arrested on a warrant for the same charges. Police said when officers were about to take Ruza into custody, they observed in plain view drug paraphernalia. Officers also found several syringes and several small plastic baggies containing a white powdery substance later found to be heroin on her person, police said. Ruza posted bond and was later released.

Rodney Hargrove, 42, of Bridgeport was arrested via warrant and charged with sixth degree larceny and third degree forgery on July 25. It is alleged that back in April Hargrove forged a check that was stolen from a Westport resident in the amount of $5,000, deposited it and then made large withdrawals against it. The resident reportedly does not know Hargrove nor did they authorize the check. Police said eventually Hargrove was identified and a warrant issued for his arrest. Hargrove turned himself in upon learning of the warrant. He was unable to post bond and was transported to Norwalk Superior Court for arraignment.
