Police Investigating Accident on Compo Road North that Injured Cyclist

He was taken to Norwalk Hospital.

The Westport Police Department is currently investigating an accident that involved a bicyclist and a motor vehicle around 11:38 a.m. today, according to a news release.

The accident occurred on North Compo Road at the intersection of East Main Street. A preliminary investigation determined the motor vehicle turned left from North Compo Road into the oncoming path of the bicyclist. 

The bicyclist was transported to Norwalk Hospital by a Westport Emergency Medical Service ambulance for his injuries.

When asked about the bicyclist's condition or name, Capt. Sam Arciola of the Westport Police Department said "We're in the process of contacting his family."

Police closed North Compo Road for about an hour today. The accident is being investigated by members of the Westport Police Department Accident Investigation Team.

Arciola said since the investigation has not been completed, it's too early to determine if any charges will be filed against the driver.
