Woman Charged with Identity Theft in Westport

The suspect reportedly worked at a local restaurant and recorded customers' credit card information to create counterfeit cards for her use, police said.

A New York woman was charged with identity theft Wednesday in connection to an investigation launched in 2007 by Westport Police.

Jennifer Brideau, 38, of Long Island City, N.Y., allegedly recorded credit card information of customers dining at a local Westport restaurant, where she was an employee.

Brideau then used the information to create counterfeit cards to use to purchase items for herself, according to police.

She was charged with third-degree identify theft and held in lieu of a $5,000 bond. Brideau is scheduled to appear at Norwalk Superior Court on July 8.
