Woman Who Damaged Police Car During Pursuit Busted in Westport

The woman, who allegedly caused more than $7,000 worth of damage to a police cruiser during a police pursuit, was held on $10,000 bond.

 

A Bridgeport woman who allegedly caused $7,500 worth of damage to a Canton police car while involved in a police pursuit was arrested in Westport, police said.

Westport police took the woman into custody on Dec. 31 after an officer learned of her arrest warrants following a traffic stop, according to a police report.

The warrant was for a violation of probation from the Canton Police Department, police said. As part of her probation, the woman was ordered to make restitution payments to the Town of Canton for the damages to the police car.

Westport police charged 34-year-old Kadine Ritchie, of Bridgeport, with a probation violation, failure to display plates, illegal operation of a motor vehicle under suspension, insurance coverage fails minimum requirement, operating a motor vehicle without a license and failure to return license, according to the police report.

Ritchie was held on $10,000 court-set bond. She is due in Hartford Superior Court on Jan. 11 for the probation violation and in Norwalk Superior Court Jan. 14 for the motor vehicle charges.
