Yaris Hits Utility Pole and Flips on I-95; Driver Injured

Westport firefighters responded to the scene. Westport EMS transported the driver to Norwalk Hospital.

 


Westport firefighters responded to a single vehicle rollover on I-95 northbound, between exits 17 and 18 at 4:03 p.m. today.

Arriving firefighters found a 2007 Toyota Yaris had knocked over a utility pole on the shoulder and flipped over before landing right side up and stopping in the breakdown lane, according to a news release.

After the accident occurred, a crew from Nelson Ambulance Service stopped in the southbound breakdown lane and crossed over to treat the patient, whom had exited the vehicle.

CT State Police were also on scene before Westport Fire units arrived.

The patient was transported to Norwalk Hospital by Westport EMS. The extent of the driver’s injuries are not known.

 The right lane was shut down by the state police during the incident. 

Westport Firefighters remained on the scene until 4:40 p.m. when the vehicle was towed. State police reopened the right travel lane at that time.
