Downtown Development: 'Significantly' Increasing Tax Revenue in Westport

P&Z will hold a public hearing continuance tonight concerning the zoning change to 35 Church Lane, the Bedford Square Associates' proposed development site.

Many Westport the idea of turning the development with more than 100 parking spots in an under ground lot, but we must consider the potential tax benefits.          

“Bedford Square would add significantly to Downtown's commercial tax base, given the scale of the project,” Westport State Representative  said after the Wednesday night.  

Currently, the YMCA is not on the Westport tax roll, but once , it will be on the tax rolls, according to RTM District 9 Candidate and downtown resident

“We will have some retail space that will pay taxes and help increase revenue for the town,” Liccione said. “ are always complaining they want lower taxes, but this project will increase revenue for the town.”

The P&Z public hearing concerning Amendment #639 will be held at at 7 p.m. tonight.
