Letter: Jennifer Tooker – Committed to Serve Westport

Jennifer Tooker is a dedicated, knowledgeable and competent public official.   

As a current member of the Board of Finance and long time member of the RTM I have come to learn that the most valuable contribution an individual can make is taking the time to be present and hands on.

Throughout her successful private sector career, her current position serving on the BOE and previous position on the Conservation Committee, Jennifer has consistently demonstrated that her willingness to be present has enabled her to be impactful.  

Jennifer understands you must be willing to listen, to expose yourself by asking challenging questions that others may disagree with and be willing to dig into the details in support of identifying a collective way forward.  Without being consistently present, none of this is possible.

Actions speak louder than words.  Upon announcing her candidacy, Jennifer has been attending the Board of Finance meetings as an observer, seeking to understand current issues at a more granular level.

The combination of Jennifer’s real world financial experience, knowledge of Westport financial affairs as a member of the BOE and her willingness to be present at Board of Finance meetings to understand the broader financial challenges facing Westport positions Jennifer to be an active and valuable contributor to the Board of Finance on day 1.
