Letter: Westport's Board of Finance Needs Jennifer Tooker

Westport would be well served with Jennifer Tooker on the Board of Finance. Jen has the experience, integrity, intelligence, community view, and, most importantly, compassion to help lead the Board.

Ms. Tooker has spent over 20 years working with Berkshire Hathaway’s GenRe in the financial services industry. She has a broad view of business and finance having managed complex financial matters for this blue chip company both in the U.S. and abroad. Jen is currently serving as a member of the Board of Education which represents the largest part of our town budget. Her perspective on education and financial issues makes her the right person for the Board. Beyond the experience, Jen has a personal style that is warm and inclusive. She always interacts with a smile and a strong ability to listen and formulate ideas and solutions.

Since moving to Westport with her husband and three children, Jen has been very active in the community. In addition to serving on the Board of Education, she has been vice-chairman of the Conservation Commission, a board member of the Women's Business Council, a member of the Westport Sunrise Rotary Club, and a coach for the Westport Soccer Association.  This involvement in our community will serve to make her a better and more understanding member of the Board of Finance.

I encourage Westporters to vote for Jennifer Tooker for Board of Finance on Nov. 5.
