A bridge safety and evaluation project on the Merritt Parkway will
result in alternating left- and right-lane closures Sunday morning and
at different times on Monday and Tuesday in New Canaan.
On Wednesday, the work moves west on the highway into Stamford.
lane closures are expected to take place from 6:30 to 11:30 a.m. Sunday
in a "rolling pattern" in lanes for both "northbound" and "southbound"
(that is, eastbound and westbound) traffic between Exits 36 and 38 in
New Canaan, according to a news release from the Connecticut Department of Transportation.
Monday, the same kind of work is expected to close lanes in a similar
way between exits 37 and 38 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the "northbound"
(that is , eastbound) side, and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the
"southbound" (or westbound) side.
On Tuesday, the same kind of lane closures are expected at the same times between the same two exits.
On Wednesday, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., in the southbound (westbound, away from New Canaan) lanes in Stamford, alternating left and right lane closures continue, this time between Exits 34 and 31.
