The Hour: Electricity Rate Cuts Approved

The DPUC okays rate changes. Attorney General Richard Blumenthal calls them modest.

A 5.2 percent decrease in the cost of electricity for most Connecticut Light & Power customers was approved Monday and will take effect Jan. 1. 

The state Department of Public Utility Control approved the rate changes. Through the first six months of 2010, a household that consumes the typical amount of electricity will see its monthly bill drop by $7.29, or 5.2 percent. The changes are based on an 11 percent reduction in the cost CL&P will pay for electricity.
