Westport P&Z to Review Amendments at Public Hearing

The Westport Planning & Zoning Commission is scheduled to review Text Amendment #667 this week.

The amendment was submitted by the Planning & Zoning Commission and contains several technical changes to the regulations. The changes include:

  • exempting from building height requirements all rooftop railings up to the minimum height required in the building code,
  • removing the time limit for variances to be filed on the land records because there are no statutory time limits for such filings,
  • modifying the regulations to provide that not all variance applications will require site plan approval, and
  • changing the wording in the zoning regulations from “extreme high tide line” to “coastal jurisdiction line” to be consistent with changes in state statutes.

“These amendments are essentially housekeeping items to make the zoning regulations more consistent with other sections of the regulations, state statutes and the building code,” said Laurence Bradley, Planning & Zoning Director.

Bradley encouraged all those interested in these amendments to attend the Planning & Zoning Commission’s public hearing on Jan. 23 at 7 p.m.in the Westport Town Hall.
