In addition to her professional experience, Janis has served on many local boards and commissions in the local community:

Some highlights of her involvement include: • Chairman, Parks and Recreation

Commission (member since 2006) • PTA - Co-president (GFS), Assistant Treasurer

(BMS), PTA Council Technology Co-Chair • Board Member, Westport Farmers Market •

Westport Sunrise Rotary member.

Most recently as chairman of the Westport Parks and Recreation Commission, Janis spearheaded public/private initiatives, improved public interaction, pioneered Friends of Westport Parks and Recreation to find private financing alternatives to important public projects, and launched the fundraising effort to establish the Longshore Golf Halfway House.

On a personal note, I have had the pleasure of working with Janis on the Bedford Middle School PTA executive board and in other various capacities.  I can attest to her professionalism and expertise, as well as someone who can work cooperatively with other community boards and administrators. I enthusiastically support Janis for the Board of Finance.
