Your Thoughts Wanted in Planning for Downtown Westport Master Plan

A news release from the Westport First Selectman's Office:

First Selectman Jim Marpe today announced that as part of  the YOUR DOWNTOWN campaign, a second Downtown Visioning Workshop will be held on Monday, June 30 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the McManus Room at the Westport Library. The workshop is a critical part of the development of the Downtown Westport Master Plan.

The content of the June 30 workshop, “Downtown Visioning x 2,” will be similar to the June 7 workshop, according to Downtown Steering Committee Chairman, Dewey Loselle. “More than 100 people attended the first workshop. It was such a great success and there were so many residents who wanted to attend  but couldn’t, so we wanted to provide another opportunity for them to participate.”

The main interactive part of the workshop, “Downtown 101: Streets, Buildings, Places,”  guides participants through an interactive roundtable exercise in which they will view and discuss various elements and concepts for Downtown Westport.  Citizens will have the opportunity to discuss the proposed ideas and individually  rate their appeal or appropriateness to Downtown.

The Downtown Steering Committee members thank the more than 2,300 residents who have taken the Downtown Survey since it was launched last month. Approximately 10% of the adult citizens of Westport have taken the survey to date.

The survey, as well as detailed information on events for the Downtown Westport Master Plan, will continue to be available at www.downtownwestportct.com.  Paper versions of the survey are located at Town Hall, the Westport Library, and the Center for Senior Activities. The survey will be open until July 13.   Residents can also discuss and provide ideas for Downtown on the “Ideas” page of the website.
