For a Mere $20M, Live Where Charles Lindbergh Enjoyed the Waterfront

If you like oysters, note that there are 34 acres of oyster beds that come with Charles Lindbergh's former property on the Sound in Darien.

A waterfront house with soaring views of sky over sea — something familiar to the first man to cross the Atlantic in a solo air flight — perhaps would have made Charles Lindbergh feel right at home.

Well, not quite. Officially the Lindbergh's lived nearby, but they owned this property, with its 1953 house, as well.

The two-acre shoreline property in Darien owned by Lindbergh is on the market, and you can own it for less than $20 million. Lindbergh, his wife Anne Morrow Lindbergh and their children lived in a home on Tokeneke Trail, but they came to the property to have fun on the shoreline and enjoy the view.

The home at 53 Contentment Island has views of Long Island Sound that are pretty as a picture — proven by artist John Kensett, who used to paint from that property or very close by in the 19th century.

The property includes not only 800 feet directly on the waterfront, but also eight acres of the offshore Fish Islands (painted by Kensett) and 34 acres of oyster beds.

Bedrooms: 3
Bathrooms: 3.5
Size: 2,889 square feet

The asking price is $19,950,000. For more information and more pictures, see the property's Web page on Zillow.com.
