Green Earth Lecture Series

Earthplace, the Nature Discovery Center in Westport, has kicked in its busy fall season with such educational events as the Green Earth Series.

The return of the Green Earth lecture series begins on Tuesday, Oct. 19 at 7:30 p.m. with a lecture on the effect of climate and the environment on everyone's health. The event will be conducted by Dr. Mitchell Lester, M.D. FAAP. Dr. Lester, a renowned allergist and immunologist will discuss the effects of climate and the environment on people's health, emphasizing how changes in these elements can have a particularly negative effect on allergies and asthma. Dr. Lester is President Elect of the New England Society of Allergy.

On Tuesday, Nov. 9 at 7:30 p.m., the Green Earth Lecture will offer an informative discussion on how climate and the environment affect the well being of our pets. Dr. Timothy Plunkett, an established veterinarian who volunteers his services at Earthplace, the Beardsley Park Zoo and the Connecticut Audubon, will be teaching participants how to keep your pets healthy by helping them to adapt to these ever-increasing changes.

The Green Earth Series is one of many important educational offerings for adults presented at Earthplace year-round. The first event of this year's series took place last spring. It featured a demonstration and lecture on Green Foods and a Healthy Diet.

Both Green Earth Series events will be free of charge. Space, however, is very limited and guests who are interested in attending are encouraged to make reservations at their earliest convenience. To do so, call 203-227-7253, or send an email to info@earthplace.org.
