WestportREADS: Dr. James Hansen, 'Storms of My Grandchildren'

WestportREADS welcomes the director of the NASA Goddard Institute for Space Studies and Columbia University professor of environmental science Dr. James Hansen, who will talk about his book "Storms of My Grandchildren" at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 5, in McManus Room.

Hansen brought global warming to the world's attention in the 1980s, when he first testified before Congress. With his background in both space and earth sciences, he has a broad perspective on the status and prospects of our home planet. In his book, Hansen presents a comprehensible, realistic and courageous call to prevent climate change.

Hansen is a member of the National Academy of Sciences, an adjunct professor in the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences at Columbia University and at Columbia's Earth Institute, and the director of the NASA Goddard Institute for Space Studies.

Books will be available for purchase and signing. A percentage of all purchases will benefit the library.
