Greens Farms Academy Adds New Pre-K Program

New program will feature art, music, foreign language and the study of surrounding ecosystems.

Westport’s Greens Farms Academy has announced the addition of a Pre-K program at the school beginning in the 2014-15 year.

The new program will run from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., with extended hours available. The student/teacher ratio will be five to one, and students will be exposed to emerging literacy skills, mathematics and social studies, according to the Head of School Janet Hartwell.

“We have bright, young children who apply to our kindergarten, but are not quite ready and would benefit from another year,” said Hartwell. “A Pre-K class gives these children a program that is developmentally appropriate for four and five-year-olds, while also providing the advantage of GFA’s facilities, location, and program.”

Special classes such as art, physical education, music, Spanish, and explorations of the surrounding ecosystems: Burying Hill Beach, the Audubon Woodland, and the tidal marsh will also be available to students in the new program, according to Hartwell.

Additional information about the program can be found on the school's website
